The P2447 code indicates that the secondary air injection pump for Bank 2 is not operating when the PCM commands it on during cold starts. This is the Bank 2 counterpart to P2445. Without the air pump running, Bank 2's exhaust does not receive the fresh air needed to help the catalytic converter reach operating temperature quickly during cold starts.

You will notice the absence of the normal air pump sound when starting a cold engine, and cold starts may be rougher than usual with a noticeable rich exhaust smell for the first few minutes of driving. The catalytic converter on Bank 2 will take longer to warm up, resulting in higher emissions during this period. The vehicle will fail emissions testing.

Begin diagnosis by checking the fuse and relay — these are the cheapest and easiest components to test. If the fuse keeps blowing when replaced, the pump motor has an internal short and needs replacement. Verify power and ground at the pump connector with a multimeter during a cold start when the PCM should be commanding the pump on. If power is present but the pump does not run, the pump itself has failed. On some vehicles, Bank 1 and Bank 2 share the same pump, while others have separate pumps — consult your vehicle's service manual to determine your configuration.
