A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input

The P0532 code means the PCM is receiving a voltage signal from the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor that is below the expected minimum. This low reading can indicate either genuinely low refrigerant pressure (often due to a leak) or an electrical fault in the sensor circuit. The PCM uses this signal to protect the compressor — if pressure appears too low, the PCM will not engage the compressor clutch to prevent damage from running without adequate refrigerant.
The primary symptom is an AC system that simply doesn't work — the compressor won't engage, so no cooling occurs. Your vehicle will drive and operate normally otherwise, as this code only affects the air conditioning system. You may notice the AC light blinking as the system attempts and fails to activate the compressor.
The most common real-world cause is a refrigerant leak that has gradually drained the system. An AC technician can use UV dye or an electronic leak detector to find the leak, repair it, evacuate the system, and recharge it to spec. If the refrigerant charge is good, the sensor itself or its wiring is the next likely culprit. Check the connector at the sensor for corrosion or looseness, and inspect the wiring for damage. Refrigerant work requires certification and specialized equipment, so this repair typically requires professional service.

Symptoms
- •Air conditioning does not blow cold air
- •AC compressor clutch does not engage
- •No cooling effect when AC is turned on
- •AC indicator light may blink or flash
- •Vehicle runs and drives normally otherwise
Likely Causes
A refrigerant leak has lowered system pressure below the sensor's minimum readable threshold, and the PCM correctly reads this as a low-input condition.
The sensor has failed in a way that produces minimum voltage output regardless of actual system pressure.
The signal wire from the pressure sensor to the PCM is shorting to ground, pulling the voltage below the expected minimum.
Poor electrical contact at the sensor connector causes the signal to drop to ground level, reading as low input.
The 5V reference voltage supplied by the PCM to the pressure sensor is missing or too low, causing a low reading.
