Code P2127 is set when the engine control module detects that the voltage from the 'E' circuit of the throttle or accelerator pedal position sensor has fallen below the minimum acceptable threshold. This is a specific sub-code of P2125, pinpointing that the signal is too low rather than just generally out of range. The 'E' circuit is one of two redundant sensor signals the computer uses to determine how far you're pressing the gas pedal.
When this code appears, the computer will almost certainly put the engine into limp or reduced power mode. You'll feel like the car barely moves when you press the gas — this is intentional. The computer can't trust the pedal sensor's signal, so it limits engine power as a safety precaution to prevent uncontrolled acceleration.
Diagnosis starts with checking the wiring and connector at the gas pedal — a multimeter can quickly verify whether the sensor is producing the correct voltage sweep as you move the pedal. If the wiring checks out, the accelerator pedal sensor assembly is the most likely component to replace. The pedal assembly in most vehicles is secured by two or three bolts in the footwell and has a single electrical connector, making it a relatively simple DIY job.

Symptoms
- •Engine immediately enters limp mode
- •Accelerator pedal has little or no effect
- •Vehicle can only creep along at very low speed
- •Check Engine Light on
- •Engine may stall when coming to a stop
Likely Causes
Internal failure of the secondary pedal position sensor causes it to output voltage below the PCM's minimum threshold, typically below 0.2 volts, triggering the low circuit code.
A broken wire, pinched harness, or short to ground in the E circuit signal wire drops the voltage to near zero, making the PCM see an impossibly low reading from the sensor.
Moisture intrusion or wear on the pedal connector terminals can create high resistance or an open circuit, causing the signal voltage to fall below specification.
In some vehicles, the 'E' designation may refer to a throttle body sensor rather than the pedal sensor. A failed TPS within the throttle body can also produce this low voltage reading.

Professional Repair
Includes parts + labor
Common Fixes
- Replace the accelerator pedal position sensor assembly
- Repair broken or shorted wires in the pedal sensor harness
- Clean or replace corroded connector terminals at the pedal assembly
- Test and replace the throttle body assembly if the fault is at the throttle end
