Code P0205 means the engine control module (ECM) has detected an electrical fault in the injector circuit for cylinder 5. Since cylinder 5 only exists on engines with five or more cylinders (V6, V8, V10, or inline-5), this code appears on larger engines. The ECM monitors the injector circuit's electrical characteristics and triggers this code when the readings are outside normal parameters.

On a V6 or V8 engine, cylinder 5 is typically located on the rear bank, which can make access more challenging. You'll notice the engine running rough, with vibration and reduced power. The misfire may be more noticeable under load, such as during acceleration or climbing hills. Fuel economy will decrease as the engine compensates for the dead cylinder.

Diagnosis follows the same pattern as other injector circuit codes.
